Antique White King FlyingBed

Only a SICO Room Maker mechanism could lift this weight and a 16" thick mattress, with one hand operation!

Suzan's Antique White King FlyingBed

Deceptive fascade on Bedface

These antique ceramic handles became the design theme for this system.

Bridge is a long ways up.

Functional Drawers are lined with scented paper.

Accent Molding Applied to pre lacquered panels.  Satin Lacquer Applied, 6th coat.  Bridge with 3rd coat of Titanium White lacquer base coat.
Sixteen inch thick pillow top mattress floats down!

Most of our systems are natural wood, stained and final coated lacquer twice. Here is a process that applied eight coats of lacquer. In between coats two and three, the stressing and antique was applied. Between coats six and seven, glazing was applied. Suffice to suggest this is a complicated process that I only know one person, named James, can do.

Usually we don't send out photographs of the system during manufacture. I made a mistake of sending the lefthand photo, above, before the first coat of titanium white was applied.  Suzan called within three minutes and wanted the ugly molding removed.  I suggested to trust me, she did.

This system is 137.5" wide, 126.25" tall, 24" stored depth and the lowered bed extends into the room 106". Because this is a white lacquered system, it actually fits the room perfectly.

The ceramic handles are a story unto themselves. Suzan bought them in Jasksonville eight years ago, because they were so beautiful. This whole system was designed around their theme.

The mattress is one of the new Euro top selections from Spring Air. Instead of the pillow top being dacron, memory foam is substituted.  This mattress is very comfortable and very heavy.

Cost of manufacture of this custom design is $13,000.
